Two Detentions in the Aftermath of Heathrow Irritant Spray Attack

This incident caused the temporary closure of the CTA tunnel and the T3 car park.

Two more people are now in custody related to a theft at Heathrow Airport in which over twenty individuals were injured by what is thought to be an irritant spray, as stated by police.

A man, 24, was taken into custody in Lambeth for suspected theft and assault and a woman, 23 was detained on suspicion of conspiring to commit a robbery. They both are still being held, the force said.

These detentions come after an investigation into an assault at the multi-storey car park at Heathrow's Terminal 3 this past Sunday. Prior to the incident, two women were robbed of their suitcases upon exiting a car park lift.

A three-year-old girl was among the those hurt during the incident. A total of five individuals were taken to the hospital for medical care and have since been released.

Officers detained a 31-year-old man on suspicion of theft and assault close to the scene. He was subsequently released under investigation as the investigation proceeds.

Authorities were called at approximately 08:10 GMT after reports came in regarding a number of people injured by an irritating chemical believed to be pepper spray.

The assault - an event that police said was isolated and not considered terrorism - caused train delays and the partial closure of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the T3 car park briefly.
