'Treat game'

She stated his targets were disadvantaged youngsters who were participating in a summer program which he operated.
Ruben conducted a "treat game" with the minors, Mrs Prior stated, in which he would enter the sleeping quarters when they were settling down and tell them to ingest treats "as fast as possible".
She told the court Ruben had conducted this practice with the children "repeatedly", and youngsters had previously fallen ill the following morning.
She explained the man had been capable of justifying this for many years as the children being "overstimulated by activities", until his stepchild had suspicions in recently.
The prosecutor stated further: "This year his stepson had suspicions about what was going on, justifiably.
"They chose" to have a look in the defendant's belongings."
Mrs Prior KC stated materials including lubricant, Vaseline and medical needles were found, and his stepson alerted the police about his worries.
She stated the man went on to engage in the "candy game" with six children that time - July 26th - and they were all sick the subsequent day.
"The police had not arrived by that stage," she continued.
The police watchdog, the Independent Office for Police Conduct, previously told that it was examining law enforcement's management of the events.
